It's not Mother's Day today, but I have the inspiration to honor my mom with an 'official' debut in Silly Pink shoes. She was an amazing women who maneuvered – with style, grace and keen instincts – all of life's challenges.

Growing up, these beautiful images were important and special to me. Her photographs inspired me to value all of the beauty and excitement the world has to offer.

This photo on the left is taken on the University of Washington campus ... before she dyed her lovely long, thick black hair blonde.

She’s modeling a wool sweater, great belt, long plaid wool skirt with matching shawl and sweet felt hat with beaded trim that looks like a tiny crown.

I imagined her attending her dream journalism classes in this outfit and visualized it all in bright, living color.

Interested, entertaining, active, engaged and still dreaming ... in her 80’s ... planning her own final pageant and trying to convince me that we should work together presenting fashion, beauty, online charm and modeling classes on the internet.

I will continue my most important job growing up ... trying to make her laugh and smile.
